Novice FUN squash event -Garioch.

The first squash FUN event of this season took place at Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie on Sunday the 29^th of November 2009. Twenty-eight young Junior squash players from ASRC, Ellon, Garioch, MacDuff and Montrose turned out for this friendly tournament.

Throughout the busy schedule of matches, we saw some exciting and talented players perform in front of a gallery of spectators. For most of these novices this was their first time playing in front of an audience against players they had never met before. None of the contestants appeared phased by the experience as they competed in this friendly tournament.

As this was an event entered by many who had never played competitive squash before, the seedlings for most of the competitors was guesswork. However, the number of close matches and the high standard of play indicate that there is very little difference in the ability of most of these young players.

I would like to thank Danny Molyneux, Chris and Steve Shinnie for hosting and for their invaluable help in running this event. Grampian Squash also wish to acknowledge the help and support from Garioch Sports Centre that allowed this event to take place.
